TŪNIQ — The Artisans Behind the Rug
T Ū N I Q
A North African artisans' collective making rugs, clothing, and objects from sheep to shop — with radical labor ethics, traditional craft, and zero compromise.
Where Every Rug Begins
It begins with a sheep. A free-range, local flock grazing on North African land. The wool is sheared by hand, washed, carded, and hand-spun into yarn — the same way it has been done for centuries, by the same families who have carried this knowledge through generations.
Artisans like Ryadh, who has been weaving on a traditional loom for decades, work in their homes, on their own schedules, for fair wages. They are not workers in a factory — they are masters of their craft, and each rug they weave bears the quiet dignity of that fact.
Some colors come from the natural shades of wool itself — deep brown, cream, grey, black. Others are dyed with plants: walnut hulls, coral plants, olive residue. No synthetic dyes. No chemical treatments. The earth provides the palette.
"We offer these rugs with an intention to prompt reflection on the production and materials of prayer rugs around the world — which are unfortunately too often produced in exploitative conditions and of pollutive materials."

What Makes a TŪNIQ Rug
🐑 Free-Range Raw Wool
Every rug starts with 100% pure raw wool from free-range local flocks. No synthetic blends. The natural colors of the sheep — cream, grey, brown, black — become the palette.
🌿 Plant-Dyed Colors
For color variations, TŪNIQ uses traditional plant dyeing — walnut hulls, coral, olive. Rich, natural hues that age gracefully and carry no environmental harm.
🧵 Hand-Loomed in North Africa
Each rug is woven on a traditional loom by artisans in their homes. The technique — carding, spinning, weaving, finishing — is the same as it was generations ago.
🕌 Designed for Prayer
Four layers of naturally-elastic wool create soft, supportive cushioning. The minimalist Kaʿba motif is designed to facilitate focus and calm — not distraction.
🤝 Fair Wages, Always
TŪNIQ is built on radical labor ethics. Artisans receive fair, dignified compensation. The collective model means every sale goes back to the makers.
✋ No Two Are Identical
Because each rug is handmade, subtle variations in shade, texture, and weave are inevitable — and intentional. Your rug is one of a kind.
Small Batches. Made with Intention.
TŪNIQ does not produce at scale. These rugs are made in small batches — because that is what responsible production demands. When they're gone, they're gone. There is no warehouse of thousands waiting. There is only Ryadh, and his loom, and the time it takes to do it right.
At CelebrateMercy, we carry TŪNIQ because we believe in their mission: that what you pray on matters. That the object beneath your forehead in sujood should carry no injustice in its making. That craftsmanship is itself a form of devotion.
Handmade in small batches. In stock — ready to ship.
